Neon Drift Rally
★★★★☆ 4.1
Neon Drift Rally doesn't care about realistic physics and I love it for that. Tap to drift, hold to extend the slide, and chain corners together to build a boost meter that turns the screen into a blur. The night-city aesthetic is pure synthwave and the soundtrack genuinely got stuck in my head.
Handling takes a few races to click. At first every drift felt like a crash waiting to happen, then something snapped into place and I was ribboning through traffic. The tracks loop and remix in clever ways, so you learn their rhythm.
Progression is a little grindy toward the end, and the car upgrades matter more than I'd like. But as a pick-up-and-blast racer, it nails the feeling of going too fast.
What we liked
- Satisfying drift-chain boost system
- Gorgeous synthwave presentation
- Easy to learn, hard to perfect
